Bus Stop relocation - Sumner Streetscape

HAVE YOUR SAY! SUMNER BUS STOP RELOCATION

The Christchurch City Council’s (CCC) proposed Streetscape Plan for Sumner requires a relocation of the bus stop which is currently located on the corner of Marriner St and Wakefield Ave. The two addresses proposed for this relocation are depicted in the attached picture as Option A (17 Wakefield Ave outside Sumner Pharmacy) and Option B (1 Wakefield Ave outside the Indimex Restaurant).

Option A means that Sumner Pharmacy and Post Centre will lose all short term on street car parking in place of the new bus stop. In addition, a safety audit conducted by the CCC found that the relocation of the bus stop to Option A poses a significant safety risk to pedestrians and a moderate safety risk to cyclists. If Option A is selected the new Streetscape plan will be less convenient as well as less safe for the Sumner public than either Option B (outside Indimex) or Option C (current bus stop location).

Please note: The CCC is not allowing the bus stop to remain in its current location (Option C)
